Zeitgeist atmosphere: a strange, not really comprehensible, strange, desperately bustling and yet dull restlessness, imbalance, insecurity, helplessness, tension, unacknowledged panic and fear that is celebrated away, consumed away, travelled away, bought away, sexualized away, raced away, palavered away.
We are sailing on a luxury liner that could sink at any moment. We are flying in an airplane that should have run out of fuel long ago… Anyone who simply uses their common sense realizes that it is unreal that something must and will come. But it’s not here yet.
It is not immediately noticeable. There are only signs, warnings, forecasts – which do not (yet) want to materialize: Financial crisis, global climate crisis, social crisis, scarcity of resources, NATO wars of aggression … You have the big picture on your screen, which is constantly defragmented by millions of -practically unimportant- reports and events in the media and by the normal sensitivities of everyday personal life.
It is like someone who takes one step after another in the dark, knowing full well that the last step should have already led to the abyss. And yet it still goes one step further. You KNOW that the abyss is there, you KNOW it FOR SURE, and yet, because you can neither turn back nor stop, you take the next step, incredulous that you still haven’t fallen. And so on, and even imagine that it can go on like this forever.
You lose faith in your own knowledge of the catastrophe (which has long since occurred), which you secretly hope will not happen after all by some “miracle” and which, strangely enough, is still not really noticeable …. It will be like the stock market: more and more people will buy, everyone will want in – against their better judgment – (except for the insiders who control it), it will get more and more heated until there is a big blow from one second to the next. Then it’s over!!! And then what???
