I was very touched by the concert.
It was a wonderful experience to be able to experience these two gentlemen, who have always been one of my most important sources of inspiration, in the same room after so many years.
The emotional highlight for me was Hans Joachim Roedelius’ encore after the actual concert: he played the audience a spontaneously improvised CD spanning thirty years of his musical career. Nobody got up from their seats and left.
As I watched and listened to him, tears came to my eyes at the thought that it is possible to be so young, spontaneous, fun-loving, authentic, unforced and full of esprit at the age of seventy-three. There was someone standing in front of me who – without vanity, without emphasis – showed me in a great way what it is like to be an inwardly free person: concentrated, with dedication and at the same time radiating lightness, sovereignty and joy. A living philosophy of life!!!
