the pictures of happiness

the pictures of happiness

the certainty that the parameters of “happiness” are burnt-in images that are killing us because we are desperately chasing after them in our lives and yet cannot live up to them is having an ever stronger effect on me.

we run the entire gamut of illusionary human behavior, we try everything, pay any price, only to fail again and again.

yet the images of “happiness” are so omnipresent, so totalitarian in the truest sense of the word, that we continue to accept them as the measure of our being despite their painful unattainability.

then we look for the fault in ourselves (rarely) or in the other person (preferably). in any case, everywhere and only not where it really originates.

if we can see through the image of so-called “happiness”, if we dare to free ourselves from it, then our own, self-determined life begins…
